Welcome to Restaurant La Palapa, a hidden gem in Cuernavaca that promises an authentic Mexican dining experience! Nestled on Av. Miguel Hidalgo 511 in the charming neighborhood of Ocotepec, this restaurant is a delightful escape from the bustling tourist hotspots, offering a cozy atmosphere that feels like a home away from home.

The ambiance at La Palapa is inviting and relaxed, with a decor that reflects the vibrant colors of Mexican culture. The friendly staff and attentive service create a warm and welcoming environment, perfect for families, friends, or even solo diners seeking comfort food. According to Mary O'Sullivan, who dined here with local friends, the restaurant was a refreshing find, praised for its good vibes and traditional cuisine, ensuring you’ll feel like you’re enjoying a meal with family.

The menu at La Palapa features an array of classic Mexican dishes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. A standout dish is the Chiles en Nogada, a seasonal favorite that bursts with flavor and creativity. Pair this with the empanadas, which Bas Debbink raved about, ensuring that there's something delightful for everyone. If you're looking for a hearty breakfast to kickstart your day, the chilaquiles are a must-try, especially if you're nursing a hangover, as highlighted by Ernesto Noguez.

Freshness is the key here; as Roger Hurtado noted, everything is freshly made, from appetizers to scrumptious desserts that explode with flavor. And if you have little ones in tow, you’ll be at ease knowing there’s a dedicated play area for kids, which Birger A Bakken commented on, making it an ideal spot for a family outing.

Brought here by two Mexican friends who say very few if any tourists come here. The ambience was very good and the local food was most enjoyable (avoiding the 'pica mucho' dishes!). Waiters were very considerate and served both sauce options 'on the side' so that we lrish could try them. Lots of traffic in this area at the weekend and in the evenings. Road ramps are not painted so you really can not see them coming! Road surfaces are very poor but oh - the people are sooo friendly!

So here's the thing... You are having a very bad hangover... You are looking for a cool place to eat and maybe have a beer or two.... And you are in a budget... Well... Fear no more... This is the place. Try the chilaquiles!

Amazing food, the Chiles en Nogada is my favorite, the empanadas are fantastic , but truly you can't go wrong here with anything. The place to go to for participants in workshops at the monastery before the gates close.

Good place for Mexican food. There is an area for the kids to play and service is always good.

Fresh everything, great starters and entrées, and the dessert was bursting with flavor. Will definitely eat here again.

Restaurant La Palapa is a place where my family's been coming for decades, this was one of my grandmother's favorite places to come for lunch after church. The food is simply amazing and you won't be disappointed. The Ambiance is amazing there was musicians playing traditional Mexican music with just added to the whole experience. My advice is to come hungry, eat well and enjoy as you only live once!!!
